We have hosted several international volunteers during both the construction of the school and since the school has opened.
We currently have opportunities for three types of volunteer at the school:
1) Teaching assistants
2) Teachers
3) Fundraising and communication co-ordinator
Teaching Assistant
Your role would include:
-
helping the Ugandan teacher in English classes (particular with spoken English and spelling)
-
teaching the non-examinable subject of General Studies (covering a wide range of issues from AIDS to politics and the media to understanding life in another country)
-
helping to run extra-curricular activities for the pupils
We have opportunities to work as an assistant for between 1 and 6 months.
Teacher
Your role would include teaching the subject in which you are qualified as well as participating in the general life of the school including extra-curricular activities. We require a minimum committment of a term for a volunteer teacher.
Fundraising & Communication Co-Ordinator
Your key responsibilities would include:
· Fundraising
o Working to get more sponsors so we can take more children at the school
o Getting donations of further equipment etc.. for the school
o Raising money to support our expansion plans
· Reviewing administration of CETU and ensuring we have the correct structure for the organization and the correct roles in place
· Communication with all stakeholders
o Help design and write all updates to sponsors and donors
o Continue to build on our website
· Forging links with external organizations in the local and wider community
o E.g. vocational institutions, universities for the children once they have completed their education with Springs of Hope High School
o Orphan homes and primary schools to identify children we might be able to help
o Organizations in Buloba where our short-term volunteers could also add some benefit
We are looking for a committed individual who would like to work with us for between 6 months and 2 years. A small stipend may be available depending on qualifications.
